The FlexIt account platform faced a significant challenge in retaining user engagement beyond live training sessions. Despite active participation in these sessions, users frequently overlooked the platform's additional features. To address this, the project focused on redesigning the user account experience to enhance navigation, increase interaction, and boost overall utilization of FlexIt's offerings. This case study outlines the comprehensive redesign process, highlighting the strategic design changes that transformed the platform into a more engaging and cohesive hub for clients.

Challenges and Objectives for Enhancing User Engagement

FlexIt faced a challenge in retaining user engagement within their account platform. While clients actively participated in live training sessions, many would drop off the platform afterward, missing out on its additional features. The objective was to redesign the user account experience to enhance interaction, improve navigation, and increase the utilization of the platform's offerings.

Streamlined User Journey

Simplify the layout and structure to reduce the number of clicks required to access key features, making navigation more intuitive for users.

Improve Interactivity

Integrate interactive components that encourage users to engage more frequently with the platform, such as widgets, notifications, and personalized content.

Cohesive Design

Update the user interface to reflect FlexIt's refreshed branding, ensuring a consistent look and feel that reinforces brand identity and user trust.

Showcase Product Updates

Use the dashboard to prominently display new and existing features, educating users about available functionalities and encouraging them to explore more of the platform.

Project Methodology:
From Research to Design

To tackle FlexIt's engagement challenges, a structured approach was followed, beginning with in-depth research and competitor analysis. This was followed by collaborative brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas, which were then translated into sketches and low-fidelity wireframes. The final stage involved developing high-fidelity UI designs that seamlessly integrated user insights and branding elements.

Blueprint for a User-Centric Design

We first created low-fidelity wireframes to visualize key insights from the research phase while adhering to project goals. Widgets were proposed for the dashboard to present essential information in an organized layout. Responsive high-fidelity wireframes were then developed, incorporating a clear visual hierarchy and catering to specific user types such as new users, fitness-focused users, and nutrition-focused users.

User-Centric Visuals

Building on the wireframes, I then designed the final UI. This stage refined visual elements, ensured brand consistency, and enhanced user experience. Different screens were created based on user status: new users without a free trial, those who had taken a free trial, and existing users. Existing user screens were further divided into those who purchased a plan but hadn't taken the quiz or scheduled a session, those who took the quiz but hadn't scheduled a session, and those who purchased a plan and scheduled a session. Additionally, screens varied based on quiz results, focusing on fitness or nutrition. The final design combined aesthetics with functionality, promoting engagement and usability.

Outcome and Future Enhancements

The redesigned dashboard received highly positive feedback, boosting user engagement and aligning with the company's growth. By integrating structured scenarios tied to client status, we observed a 17% increase in the conversion rate of clients signing up for a plan after completing a free session.

Minor adjustments led to extending the redesign to other areas like bookings and achievements. Future enhancements, such as Wellness Challenges and a Leaderboard, are planned to create more immersive experiences. FlexIt has successfully transformed its platform into a cohesive and engaging hub for clients.
